Betting on Hope by Debra Clopton

Advice columnist Maggie Hope never dreamed she’d be shaking hands with champion horse trainer Tru Monahan over a high-stakes bet, especially one that involves horses, saddles, and everything a city girl like her is uncomfortable around. Tru Monahan believes he can bring out her inner cowgirl and teach her to ride a cutting horse. However, both have an attraction to each other that they aren’t willing to acknowledge at first.

I absolutely loved this book. The townspeople of Wilshire Springs are absolutely delightful and hilarious. They are meddlesome but mean well. The chemistry between Tru and Maggie is very sweet and undeniable yet both are scared and  have scars from their past. It is very enlightening to see their relationship progress throughout the novel. I also liked how Maggie identified with Jenna (a sixteen year old pregnant girl) and eventually took her under wing. Overall, I believe Debra Clopton has weaved an intricate tale of faith, hope, and love and most of all…forgiveness. I also believe that having courage to face past mistakes and overcome obstacles  was also a central message throughout the novel. I would recommend this book to others and look forward to reading more of her books.
